Mead Making Workshop – 10/01/2026
Aim of the Training:
To introduce participants to the fascinating world of mead — one of humanity’s oldest alcoholic beverages — and to teach them the art and science behind its production.
Scope of the Training:
Understanding the definition of mead, its composition, and production methods
Exploring the key parameters that define mead quality and styles
Learning about mead distribution and classification around the world (according to MJP standards)
Hands-on workshop: making your own mead from scratch
Duration: 6 hours
Date: Saturday, 10th January 2026
Location: The Centre @ Burnholme, Mossdale Avenue, York, YO31 0HA
We’ll meet at 9:30am for introductions and refreshments, and the course will begin promptly at 10:00am. The training runs until 4:00pm, with a 30-minute lunch break — lunch is provided. Refreshments: Teas and coffee will be available throughout the day.

About the Tutors
The training is conducted by two expert tutors:
Mateusz Błaszczyk – MJP Judge (MASTER level), WSET-certified wine sommelier, author of “Mead – A Compendium of Knowledge About the Oldest Alcohol in the World and Methods of Its Production.” Founder and organizer of the European Honey Harvesters Conference.
Krzysztof Jarek – MJP Judge (MASTER level), WSET-certified wine sommelier, founder and organizer of the Mead Madness Cup mead competition.
