One of the biggest advantages of the Ashforth feeder is its generous 10-litre capacity, allowing substantial quantities of sugar syrup to be supplied in a single fill.

Compared with smaller feeders, this reduces the need for frequent refilling, saving valuable time during busy feeding periods.

Whether you’re managing a few colonies or a larger apiary, the Ashforth feeder makes seasonal feeding more convenient and efficient.

Excellent Insulation & Durable Construction

Manufactured from durable, insulating polystyrene, the feeder helps reduce heat loss and provides additional protection against changing weather conditions.

Its lightweight yet robust construction makes it easy to handle, position and remove during routine colony management.

The feeder sits directly on top of the hive, providing a practical feeding solution without the need for a separate empty super.

Suitable for Both Syrup & Fondant

What makes the National Poly Ashforth Feeder particularly versatile is its ability to support different feeding methods throughout the year.

Spring & Autumn – Sugar Syrup Feeding

Use the feeder in its normal position to provide sugar syrup, helping colonies build or replenish their food stores when necessary.

Winter – Fondant Feeding

During colder months, the feeder can be turned upside down and positioned over a block of fondant, creating an insulated space above the colony and helping provide a more protected feeding environment.

This dual-purpose design makes the Ashforth feeder a valuable addition to any National hive setup.

Practical Design for Easy Feeding

The feeder incorporates a metal grille with a sliding access opening, designed for practical feeding and cleaning.

During feeding, the sliding opening at the top of the grille must remain closed.

Once feeding has finished, it can be opened to allow the bees to clean out any remaining syrup before the feeder is removed.

This thoughtful design helps make regular feeding and maintenance straightforward.

Choose Abelo – Quality Beekeeping Equipment Designed with Beekeepers in Mind.

Please note: Compatible with standard National polystyrene and wooden hives measuring 460 × 460 mm. Not suitable for the Abelo 12 Frame National Poly Hive system, which requires its own dedicated feeder.

Keep the sliding opening on top of the metal grille closed during feeding. Open it only when feeding has finished to allow bees to clean out the feeder.

Minor cosmetic marks or scuffs may occur due to the nature of the polystyrene material. These do not affect the functionality of the feeder.
