This is our new style National queen trap. It’s made of a metal queen excluder bent to create a box which fits two National frames (not included). There is a metal cover to close the box. The spacing of the excluder is 4.3mm to enable the worker bees to pass through but not the queen.

This National mould is as durable as our deep roofed poly hive and is a single moulded high density polystyrene hive (160g/litre). It provides enhanced insulation properties and strength and comes ready painted and ready to use straight from the box. As with our original poly hive, they are also embossed on the top and bottom of both the brood boxes and supers with rigid plastic. Feeder is not included.
Sometimes there is water ingress in the runners of the boxes, because the two plastic surfaces are not watertight and plastic cannot absorb water like wood. This is normal and if found a problem can easily be rectified by smearing a good amount of Vaseline on the top of the plastic runners to create a watertight seal between boxes.

Mini Ashforth Feeder 2.4L
This 2.4 litre box feeder is a practical and reliable solution for feeding honeybee colonies throughout the season. Its universal design makes it suitable for a wide range of hive types.

The feeder features a two-chamber design:
a larger chamber for filling with syrup or feed
a narrow access chamber that allows bees to move safely while reducing the risk of drowning
After feeding, the feeder can be washed in hot water, dried, and stored ready for the next feeding period, making it a practical and reusable piece of beekeeping equipment.
